Lion in the City
Medium: Acrylic on stretched canvas
Size: 18 x 24 inches (45 x 60cm)
To celebrate our nation's 58th birthday.
The Lord impressed upon me that I should paint a lion over a live painting "City of Lights" which I did a few months back.
Our nation is known as the Lion City.
The Lion of Judah watches over our city.
You are lions in the city, so roar and lay claim to your ground.
And out of your bellies shall flow rivers of living water which brings life to all around.
Little snippets of revelations as I was conceptualizing this:
Water flowing out of the lion's mouth reminds me of our national emblem, the Merlion. The Merlion was originally situated at Singapore river with the river's water flowing out of its mouth. It is parallel to how the river of life flows out of believers.
On the lion's nose is a little dot of red. It was part of the original painting, and I didn't feel I should cover it. Our nation is also known as the little red dot - too small to even be seen on the world map. Small but powerful. As believers, we hold inside us great power from on high. You may be small but you are powerful!
Like how in Genesis, the river flows out of Eden, a garden, and in Revelations, it has transformed to become a city. Likewise, we are to transform culture and be a source of life where we are planted!

Lion and Lamb

Medium : Acrylic on canvas
Size : 18 x 24 inches (45cmx60cm)
SOLD
The Lion, a majestic and powerful animal and the Lamb a meek animal present a juxtaposition, yet the bible describes our Saviour Jesus as the Lion of Judah who is the Lamb of God.
Revelation 5:5-6, 9 NLT
Look, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the heir to David’s throne, has won the victory. He is worthy to open the scroll and its seven seals.” Then I saw a Lamb that looked as if it had been slaughtered, but it was now standing between the throne and the four living beings and among the twenty-four elders.
“You are worthy to take the scroll and break its seals and open it. For you were slaughtered, and your blood has ransomed people for God from every tribe and language and people and nation.
The Lion who is the Lamb exemplifies strength through humility and meekness. through these virtues, He inherited the earth.
I pray, our Lion city, Singapore as we progress and achieve greatness, never forgets to remain humble and recognize that it is by His grace that our city has achieved greatness.
Generations
Medium : Acrylic on canvas
Size : 35 x 47 inches (90cmx120cm)
SOLD

God created the earth and all within it, commanding us to fill the earth and subdue it.
Genesis 1:27-28 NLT
So God created human beings in his own image. In the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. Then God blessed them and said, “Be fruitful and multiply. Fill the earth and govern it. Reign over the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, and all the animals that scurry along the ground.
Depicted is peaceful family of lions enjoying each other's companionship. The father, a protector, the mother, a nurturer; and the baby cub, safe from harm, growing into the conqueror he will one day be.
As a mother, I pray that my own children will one day flourish into the man and woman God created them to be. I am constantly aware of my role as a nurturer and guide, steering them from harm's way and towards their purpose. I believe that the legacy the Lord has placed in me will be passed on to my children, and from them to their children.
Likewise, I pray for our nation, Singapore, to be fruitful, that we may be willing to make sacrifices, to look beyond our material comforts, and to nurture the next generation.

Dreams

Medium : Acrylic on canvas
Size : 16 x 20 inches (40cmx50cm)
The butterfly symbolizes creativity and our dreams—intangible yet crucial aspects of our being. The lioness looks at the butterfly with wonder in her eyes, exclaiming, 'Such a beauty! Can I also fly? Let our dreams and visions take flight!'
‘In the last days,’ God says,
‘I will pour out my Spirit upon all people.
Your sons and daughters will prophesy.
Your young men will see visions,
and your old men will dream dreams.
Acts 2:17
I pray that Singapore will always embrace creatives, ensuring every individual has the opportunity to develop their talents and dream their dreams. To provide a space where everyone can truly be 'me.'
The Victor
Medium : Acrylic on canvas
Size : 16 x 20 inches (40cmx50cm)
The prettiest lions live in zoos. Well fed and kept from harm's way. Yet even in serenity, a deeper instinct stirs within at the sight of prey. Deep in the his being, the lion wonders, "Am I really me?"
Out in the wild, a lion battles for life, mate and shelter. Daily dangers, he grows stronger. Each scars a testament to survival and strength. He is the true victor.
Hebrews 12:2 NLT
Keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God’s throne.
Let us rise, individually and as a nation, to meet every challenge, with courage and faith embodying the victor's spirit in our journey.
